Spareparts Festival

Overview

Working on SpareParts was one of my first projects as a Producer and I joined the team in the festivals second year. Still a very new concept, SpareParts was a fresh and innovative addition to the long-standing ‘Tram Sunday’ event in Fleetwood. Attaching an arts festival to this tradition brought about a brand new programme of newly commissioned transport themed and inspired arts.

As well as working across the whole festival I led on the production and engagement programme for Weighting, a new show created by Extraordinary Bodies, an inclusive circus company formed by Diverse City and Cirque Bijou. I supported the development of a community choir who performed as part of the show, recruiting people from across Fleetwood and beyond and giving them the confidence to perform.

Working on the production for the SpareParts Art Parade was one of my favourite aspects of this job. We had a whole plethora of crazy and artistic vehicles, strolling performers and bands, which took over the streets of Fleetwood during the afternoon, wowing the 50,000 strong, crowd who came out to enjoy the day. You can watch the video below to get a flavor of just how fun the SpareParts Festival was and continues to be every year.
